- ItemAsymptotic behavior of a hydrodynamic system in the nematic liquid crystal flows(Berlin : Weierstraß-Institut für Angewandte Analysis und Stochastik, 2009) Liu, Chun; Wu, Hao; Xu, XiangIn this paper we study the long time behavior of the classical solutions to a hydrodynamical system modeling the flow of nematic liquid crystals. This system consists of a coupled system of Navier--Stokes equations and kinematic transport equations for the molecular orientations. By using a suitable Lojasiewicz--Simon type inequality, we prove the convergence of global solutions to single steady states as time tends to infinity. Moreover, we provide estimates for the convergence rate.

House, 2018) Liu, Chun; Röger, Matthias; Stevens, AngelaThe workshop focussed on the mathematical modeling and analysis of the mutual interaction among living cells, their interaction with the environment, and the resulting morphogenetic processes. The interplay of bio-mechanical processes and molecular signaling and their combined effect on the emergence of shape and function in cell clusters, tissues, and organs was addressed. Classical methods of continuum mechanics and necessary extensions were discussed at a formal and a rigorous mathematical level. Several introductory talks were given by experimentalists.

House, 2016) Kruzik, Martin; Liu, Chun; Schlömerkemper, AnjaThe unifying theme of the workshop was the mathematical modeling, analysis, and numerical simulation of materials which involve magnetic and elastic interactions. During the workshop we identified several open problems from the calculus of variations, partial differential equations and modeling which appear to be essential in the understanding of the behavior of magnetoelastic materials.
