- ItemDiscrete Differential Geometry(Zürich : EMS Publ. House, 2009) Kenyon, Richard; Sullivan, John; Ziegler, Günter M.This is the collection of extended abstracts for the 26 lectures and the open problems session at the second Oberwolfach workshop on Discrete Differential Geometry.
- ItemDiscrete Differential Geometry(Zürich : EMS Publ. House, 2012) Kenyon, Richard; Schröder, Peter; Ziegler, Günter M.This is the collection of extended abstracts for the 24 lectures and the open problems session at the third Oberwolfach workshop on Discrete Differential Geometry.
- ItemDiscrete Differential Geometry(Zürich : EMS Publ. House, 2006) Kenyon, Richard; Sullivan, John; Ziegler, Günter M.Discrete Differential Geometry is a broad new area where differential geometry (studying smooth curves, surfaces and other manifolds) interacts with discrete geometry (studying polyhedral manifolds), using tools and ideas from all parts of mathematics. This report documents the 29 lectures at the first Oberwolfach workshop in this subject, with topics ranging from discrete integrable systems, polyhedra, circle packings and tilings to applications in computer graphics and geometry processing. It also includes a list of open problems posed at the problem session.
- ItemGeometric and Topological Combinatorics(Oberwolfach-Walke : Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach, 1999) Kalai, Gil; Ziegler, Günter M.[no abstract available]
- ItemGeometric and Topological Combinatorics(Zürich : EMS Publ. House, 2007) Kalai, Gil; Ziegler, Günter M.The 2007 Oberwolfach meeting “Geometric and Topological Combinatorics” presented a great variety of investigations where topological and algebraic methods are brought into play to solve combinatorial and geometric problems, but also where geometric and combinatorial ideas are applied to topological questions.
- ItemOptimal bounds for the colored Tverberg problem(Oberwolfach : Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach, 2009) Blagojevi´c, Pavle V.M.; Matschke, Benjamin; Ziegler, Günter M.We prove a "Tverberg type" multiple intersection theorem. It strengthens the prime case of the original Tverberg theorem from 1966, as well as the topological Tverberg theorem of B´ar´any et al. (1980), by adding color constraints. It also provides an improved bound for the (topological) colored Tverberg problem of B´ar´any & Larman (1992) that is tight in the prime case and asymptotically optimal in the general case. The proof is based on relative equivariant obstruction theory.
- ItemOptimal elliptic Sobolev regularity near three-dimensional, multi-material Neumann vertices(Berlin : Weierstraß-Institut für Angewandte Analysis und Stochastik, 2010) Haller-Dintelmann, Robert; Höppner, Wolfgang; Kaiser, Hans-Christoph; Rehberg, Joachim; Ziegler, Günter M.We study relative stability properties of different clusters of closely packed one- and two-dimensional localized peaks of the Swift-Hohenberg equation. We demonstrate the existence of a 'spatial Maxwell' point where clusters are almost equally stable, irrespective of the number of pes involved. Above (below) the Maxwell point, clusters become more (less) stable with the increase of the number of peaks
- ItemTopological and Geometric Combinatorics(Zürich : EMS Publ. House, 2011) Kalai, Gil; Novik, Isabella; Ziegler, Günter M.The 2011 Oberwolfach meeting “Topological and Geometric Combinatorics” was organized by Anders Björner (Stockholm), Gil Kalai (Jerusalem), Isabella Novik (Seattle), and Günter M. Ziegler (Berlin). It covered a wide variety of aspects of Discrete Geometry, Topological Combinatorics, and Geometric Topology. Some of the highlights of the conference included (1) counterexamples to the Hirsch conjecture, (2) the latest results around the colored Tverberg theorem, and (3) recent developments on the complexity of the simplex algorithm.
