Abstract

Magic angle spinning 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance of x Na2O · (100-x) SiO2 glasses (10 ≤ x ≤ 60) has been applied to contribute to the controversial question of the Q^n distribution. For all compositions more than two Q^n species have been identified. The random model provides a better description of the building group distribution than the binary model. Reasons for the contradictory experimental results are discussed.
