Abstract
The goal of Module 1 of the INUMO project was to develop digital methods for the interactive scenario development of sustainable urban mobility concepts in the context of Ethiopia (the INUMO-Toolbox). The foundations for sustainable mobility are laid in the early phases of urban planning, when essential decisions about land distribution, the allocation of uses, street networks and building density are made. These decisions direct the flow of people and goods, and by extension shape transport distances, CO2 emissions, costs, public health and the opportunities for social interaction in a city. Because the street network in particular remains in place for a very long time - often centuries - it sets the boundary conditions for almost everything else and has a lasting impact on a city's ecological, economic and social sustainability.
