Abstract

Economically, ecologically and socio-culturally, the mobility sector is undergoing fundamental change. Global competitive pressure is increasing rapidly, sustainability and climate protection are changing from an additional benefit to an obligatory goal, and classic individual mobility is increasingly losing acceptance in society. With new forms of mobility, in this case with so-called use-case-optimized mobility, concept lightweight construction offers resource-saving and acceptable alternatives. New means of transport and concepts are available as prototypes, but their introduction fails due to the still high cost of their production required in small quantities.

The project therefore aimed to build a digital development and production platform for small and medium-sized enterprises that would enable manufacturing companies and engineering service providers to offer complex products in small quantities in cooperative approaches, thus increasing their global competitiveness. Distributed development and production dramatically lowers barriers to entry in the form of upfront investments, a fundamental increase in efficiency allows drastically shortening development cycles and lowers costs. Small companies can thus become integrators/OEMs themselves.
