Abstract

he goal of KOMSENS-6G is to extend the 6. generation mobile communications system to include a further core functionality - in addition to communication - namely wireless sensing. The Barkhausen Institut was involved in two aspects of this project: RF hardware development for ISAC, with a focus on full-duplex operation, and security and data protection regarding such systems. The main objective of the hardware research was to resolve the isolation issues between the transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) antennas in full-duplex operation, using various isolation techniques (including metamaterials as passive elements) in WLAN-, X- and 5G-NR frequency bands. In the area of data protection, the focus was on implementing sensing that complies with data protection regulations.
