Abstract

As part of the MBPLE4Mobility project, AVL Software and Functions Gmbh (AVL-SFR) set itself the goal of optimizing development methods and tools for model-based development (MBSE) and product line development (PLE) for its product development in the automotive sector in order to reduce project costs, risks, and project runtimes. In the area of PLE, the method described in the ISO/IEC 26580:2021 standard was analyzed, and the pure::variants software tool, which supports the application of this method, was acquired from the vendor pure-systems (now PTC Inc.). The tool was set up together with a license server and a model server and integrated into the AVL-SFR tool chain; gaps in the tool chain were closed by developing dedicated scripts. The application of the tool and method was tested using the examples Loading Functions and Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), and the procedure was documented in a Method Application Guideline, which will be incorporated into the AVL-SFR method landscape. In the area of MBSE, the AVL group decided to switch to the Magic Cyber Systems Engineer tool of the vendor Dassault Systems. AVL-SFR and the other subsidiaries involved in the MBPLE4Mobility project contributed to preparing the decision with their investigations in the funding project. In the next step, the architecture method previously used for software systems and control units was converted to the so-called RFLP approach, which represents the state of the art in MBSE. The new method was tested with the new tool using the example of the VCU software and a Power Inverter, and the procedure was documented in the corresponding Method Application Guideline, which will also become part of the AVL-SFR method landscape. The Method Application Guideline is flanked by an AVL-SFR-specific model template, a meta-model and modeling guidelines.
