Abstract
The goal was to improve mental health and provide interventions to reduce psychological stress among refugees. To this end, a network was to be established at the consortium level comprising the following consortium partners: the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University Medical Center Mainz (START A1), the Institute for Psychosocial Prevention, Heidelberg University Hospital (START-A2), the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy, University Medical Center Mainz (START-A3), and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Institute for Applied Psychology/Mental mHealth Lab (HoC) (START-B1) at the consortium level. The grant also covered the management and implementation of the START-A1 subproject, in which the Stress-Trauma Symptoms-Arousal-Regulation-Treatment (START) was tested for efficacy in a randomized controlled trial in a group setting for traumatized refugee adolescents aged 13 to 17 years and 11 months (final sample size N=100 with an expected dropout rate of 40%).
