Viele wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken bieten den Angehörigen der eigenen Einrichtung einen Zweitveröffentlichungsservice an. Um den Austausch zu diesem Thema zu fördern, wurde im Jahr 2021 die „Digitale Fokusgruppe Zweitveröffentlichung“ im Rahmen der Kompetenz- und Vernetzungsplattform „open-access.network“ gegründet. Der vorliegende Leitfaden ist aus dem Bedarf entstanden, Kolleg:innen bei Einrichtung und Ausbau eines Zweitveröffentlichungsservices zu unterstützen. Er richtet sich daher vor allem an Kolleg:innen, die (neu) im Themenfeld Zweitveröffentlichung arbeiten oder die sich z. B. im Rahmen der bibliothekarischen Ausbildung mit diesem Thema beschäftigen. Der Leitfaden entstand in einem kollaborativen Schreibprozess von Mitgliedern der Fokusgruppe Zweitveröffentlichung zwischen Dezember 2022 und November 2023.

The first two sections of the monograph present an introduction into basic hydrodynamics relevant to in vitro dissolution testing including V. G. Levichs convective diffusion theory and the authors combination model. This part is followed by hydrodynamic considerations of in vivo dissolution including hydrodynamic problems inherent to in vivo bioavailability of solid oral dosage forms. Hydrodynamics in the upper GI tract contribute to in vivo dissolution. Our ability to forecast dissolution of poorly soluble drugs in vitro depends on our knowledge of and ability to control hydrodynamics as well as other factors influencing dissolution. Provided suitable conditions (apparatus, hydrodynamics, media) are chosen for the dissolution test, it seems possible to predict dissolution limitations to the oral absorption of drugs and to reflect variations in hydrodynamic conditions in the upper GI tract. The fluid volume available for dissolution in the gut lumen, the contact time of the dissolved compound with the absorptive sites and the particle size have been identified as the main hydrodynamic determinants for the absorption of poorly soluble drugs in vivo. The influence of these factors is usually more pronounced than that of the motility pattern or the gastrointestinal flow rates per se.

The field of semantic computing is highly diverse, linking areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, knowledge discovery and management, big data analytics, e-commerce, enterprise search, technical documentation, document management, business intelligence, and enterprise vocabulary management. As such it forms an essential part of the computing technology that underpins all our lives today. This volume presents the proceedings of SEMANTiCS 2021, the 17th International Conference on Semantic Systems. As a result of the continuing Coronavirus restrictions, SEMANTiCS 2021 was held in a hybrid form in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 6 to 9 September 2021. The annual SEMANTiCS conference provides an important platform for semantic computing professionals and researchers, and attracts information managers, IT­architects, software engineers, and researchers from a wide range of organizations, such as research facilities, NPOs, public administrations and the largest companies in the world. The subtitle of the 2021 conference’s was “In the Era of Knowledge Graphs”, and 66 submissions were received, from which the 19 papers included here were selected following a rigorous single-blind reviewing process; an acceptance rate of 29%. Topics covered include data science, machine learning, logic programming, content engineering, social computing, and the Semantic Web, as well as the additional sub-topics of digital humanities and cultural heritage, legal tech, and distributed and decentralized knowledge graphs. Providing an overview of current research and development, the book will be of interest to all those working in the field of semantic systems.

Praktisch ausnutzbare Sicherheitslücken bedrohen die IT-Sicherheit privater wie staatlicher Infrastrukturen. Die Beseitigung der Lücken ist daher für alle Akteure, wie Produktherstellerinnen und -hersteller, Betreiberinnen und Betreiber sowie Nutzerinnen und Nutzer, wünschenswert. Dennoch zeigten Konflikte zwischen Herstellerseite und unabhängigen, proaktiv tätigen Sicherheitsforschenden, dass ein auf Kooperation basierendes Schwachstellenmanagement oftmals fehlt. Obwohl sich Expertinnen und Experten überwiegend bezüglich der grundsätzlichen Notwendigkeit eines koordinierten Zusammenwirkens durch Coordinated-Vulnerability-Disclosure-Prozesse (CVD) einig sind, ist dieses aktuell weder rechtlich verpflichtend geregelt noch flächendeckend umgesetzt. Vielmehr sind durch die Rechtsunsicherheiten für Forschende Abschreckungseffekte zu beobachten. Der „bidt Impuls“ skizziert diesen Status quo und zeigt Lösungsansätze auf, um die konfligierenden Interessens- und Rechtspositionen zu entwirren. Neben der Beseitigung einiger rechtlicher Hemmnisse durch die Gesetzgebung wird von den Autorinnen und Autoren die Einrichtung einer koordinierenden und im Konfliktfall schlichtenden Meldestelle zur Unterstützung von Disclosure-Prozessen empfohlen.

Aktuelle Geschehnisse wie das Inkrafttreten des Kodex „Leitlinien zur Sicherung guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis" der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) oder der Aufbau der Nationalen Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) und der European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) stellen Anbietende, Produzierende und Nutzende von Forschungsdaten vor fachwissenschaftliche, technische, rechtliche und organisatorische Herausforderungen. Das Praxishandbuch Forschungsdatenmanagement behandelt umfassend alle relevanten Aspekte des Forschungsdatenmanagements und der derzeitigen Rahmenbedingungen im Datenökosystem. Insbesondere die praktischen Implikationen der Datenpolitik und des -rechts, des jeweiligen Datenmarkts, der Datenkultur, der persönlichen Qualifizierung, des Datenmanagements sowie des „FAIR"en Datentransfers und der Datennachnutzung werden untersucht. Das Praxishandbuch gibt überdies einen Überblick über Projekte, Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen beim Forschungsdatenmanagement.

The second ‹Bits & Bäume› conference took place in Berlin in 2022. Once again, it provided a space for critical tech and sustainability communities to share ideas and collaborate towards the common goal of shaping digitalisation to foster sustainability. This companion book compiles the insights, work, research and opinions of more than 65 authors with a ‹Bits & Bäume› background, including practitioners, researchers and activists. The articles included in this journal demonstrate the progress made in merging ‹Bits› and ‹Bäume› (Trees) topics since our first publication in 2019 by addressing different sub-areas of the intersections between digitalisation and sustainability. Encompassing a wide range of topics, the articles delve into pressing challenges such as the resource consumption, power implications and democratic governance of digital infrastructures, AI, blockchains, mobile apps, and other software applications, as well as the need to address the unsustainable practices and paradigms of e.g., the platform economy. Dabei liegt der Schwerpunkt auf den für Ingenieure interessanten vielfältigen und teilweise umfänglichen Anwendungsbeispielen zur Dimensionsanalyse. Diese zweite Version v2 des Textes enthält einige Präzisierungen und weitere Anwendungsbeispiele.

Die 7. Ausgabe der "Grundlagen der praktischen Information und Dokumentation" (Erstausgabe 1972) heißt jetzt: „Grundlagen der Informationswissenschaft". Der Bezug zur Praxis und zur Ausbildung bleibt erhalten, aber der neue Titel trägt dem Rechnung, dass die wissenschaftliche theoretische Absicherung für alle Bereiche von Wissen und Information, nicht nur in der Fachinformation, sondern auch in den Informationsdiensten des Internet immer wichtiger wird. Für die Grundlagen sind 73 Artikel in 6 Hauptkapiteln vorgesehen. Viele Themen werden zum ersten Mal behandelt, z.B. Information und Emotion, Informationelle Selbstbestimmung, Informationspathologien. Alle Beiträge sind neu verfasst.
