Gerhart Hauptmann beschäftigte sich über einen längeren Zeitraum mit dem italienischen Dichter Giacomo Leopardi. Anhand von Tagebuchnotizen und Lesespuren in zwei deutschprachigen Leopardi-Ausgaben der nachgelassenen Bibliothek Hauptmanns rekonstruiert der Aufsatz Hauptmanns Leopardi-Rezeption (vor allem im Zeitraum 1929 und 1938), die mehr der Selbstbespiegelung im Lesen als kritischer oder produktiver Auseinandersetzung dient. Ein weiterer Abschnitt betrachtet Hauptmanns Interesse an Leopardis Biographie, das u.a. die Lesespuren im Vorwort zur Auswahl-Ausgabe von Leopardis Werken durch Ludwig Wolde bezeugen, aber auch die Anteilnahme an der biographischen Leopardi-Skizze in Herbert Eulenbergs populärem Büchlein 'Schattenbilder und Lichtbilder' (1926).

Mehrfach setzt der deutsche Dichter Gerhart Hauptmann (1862-1946) zwischen 1906 und 1942 Schlesien und Sparta in Beziehung. Im Reisetagebuch seiner Griechenlandreise erinnert ihn die Landschaft Spartas an die schlesische Landwirtschaftsidylle und eine Liebschaft während seiner Ausbildung in Lederose. Der veröffentlichte Reisebericht 'Griechischer Frühling' bezieht die Bevölkerungspolitik Spartas nach den Lykurgischen Gesetzen ein, die der deutschen Eugenik (von Hauptmanns Freund Alfred Ploetz 1895 als "Rassenhygiene" inauguriert) als vorbildlich galten. Zu einer Entgegensetzung von Sparta und Schlesien, in deren Landschaften er weiterhin Gemeinsamkeiten sieht, kommt Hauptmann 1922 in einem Paralipomenon zum Fragment gebliebenen Roman 'Der neue Chistophorus', wo der sein idealisiertes Selbstbild, den Bergpater, erklären läßt, spartanisches Freiheitsdrang werde in Schlesien nie heimisch sein. Vollends kritisch wird schließlich der Blick auf Sparta Ende der 1930er Jahre: Hauptmann begreift dann Schlesien als Land der Mischung und seine Familie als "Kolonisten"; es deutet sich in Tagebuchaufzeichnungen an, daß er Schlesien als Gegenmodell zu Sparta entwirft, dem (nach Ernst Baltrusch) "ersten totalitären Staat der Weltgeschichte", in dem Kunst - für Hauptmann das Maß aller Dinge - gegenüber der einseitig auf körperliche Tauglichkeit des Nachwuchses und Reinheit der Rasse ausgerichteten keinen Platz hat. Die Analogien zwischen der Rassenpolitik im Dritten Reich und Sparta (auch in zeitgenössischen Berufungen auf Sparta) nahm er wahr und lehnte beides ab.

A crucial factor for in-growth of metallic implants in the bone stock is the rapid cellular acceptance whilst prevention of bacterial adhesion on the surface. Such contradictorily adhesion events could be triggered by surface properties. There already exists fundamental knowledge about the influence of physicochemical surface properties like roughness, titanium dioxide modifications, cleanness, and (mainly ceramic) coatings on cell and microbial behavior in vitro and in vivo. The titanium surface can be equipped with antimicrobial properties by plasma-based copper implantation, which allows the release and generation of small concentrations of copper ions during contact with water-based biological liquids. Additionally, the titanium surface was equipped with amino groups by the deposition of an ultrathin plasma polymer. This coating on the one hand does not significantly reduce the generation of copper ions, and on the other hand improves the adhesion and spreading of osteoblast cells. The process development was accompanied by physicochemical surface analyses like XPS, FTIR, contact angle, SEM, and AFM. Very thin modified layers were created, which are resistant to hydrolysis and delamination. These titanium surface functionalizations were found to have either an antimicrobial activity or cell-adhesive properties. Intramuscular implantation of titanium samples coated with the cell-adhesive plasma polymer in rats revealed a reduced inflammation reaction compared to uncoated titanium. © (2010) Trans Tech Publications.

Das vom CERN (Europäische Organisation für Kernforschung) seit 2006 initiierte Projekt SCOAP³ (Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics) hat in weltweiter gemeinsamer Anstrengung von über 3 000 Bibliotheken, Bibliothekskonsortien, Forschungseinrichtungen und Forschungsförderinstitutionen in Zusammenarbeit mit den Verlagen Goldenen Open Access für peer-reviewed Hochenergiephysik (HEP)-Veröffentlichungen in Qualitätszeitschriften erreicht und ist zum 1. Januar 2014 mit dem SCOAP³-Repositorium (http://repo.scoap3.org/) für HEP-Artikel gestartet.

The article presents the principle of thermal protection of the contact overheadlineand substantiates the possibility of practical implementation of this principle for rail electric transport in the mining industry. The algorithm for the implementation of modern digital protection of the contact overhead line as one of the functions of the controller is described. A mathematical model of thermal protection is proposed, which follows from the solution of the heat balance equation. The model takes into account the coefficient of the electrical networktopology, as well as the coefficient of consumption of the current-carrying core of the cable, which determines the reduction in the conducting section from contact erosion and the growth of oxide films. Corrections for air flows are introduced when receiving data from an external anemometer, via telemechanics protocol. The mathematical model was tested by writing a real thermal protection program in the C programming language for the bay controller, based on the circuitry of which is the STM32F407IGT6 microcontroller for the microcontroller unit. Verification tests were carried out on a serial bay controller in 2020. The graphs for comparing the calculated and actual values of temperatures, with different flow rates of the current-carrying conductor of the DC cable, are given. To obtain data, telemechanics protocols IEC 60870-104 and Modbus TCP, PLC Segnetics SMH4 were used.

Aerosol absorption profiling is crucial for radiative transfer calculations and climate modelling. Here, we utilize the synergy of lidar with sun-photometer measurements to derive the absorption coefficient and single scattering albedo profiles during the ACTRIS-2 campaigns held in Germany, Greece and Cyprus. The remote sensing techniques are compared with in situ measurements in order to harmonize and validate the different methodologies and reduce the absorption profiling uncertainties.

Domain modeling is an important activity in early phases of software projects to achieve a shared understanding of the problem field among project participants. Domain models describe concepts and relations of respective application fields using a modeling language and domain-specific terms. Detailed knowledge of the domain as well as expertise in model-driven development is required for software engineers to create these models. This paper describes DoMoRe, a system for automated modeling recommendations to support the domain modeling process. We describe an approach in which modeling benefits from formalized knowledge sources and information extraction from text. The system incorporates a large network of semantically related terms built from natural language data sets integrated with mediator-based knowledge base querying in a single recommender system to provide context-sensitive suggestions of model elements.
