Port geometry and flame shape in glass melting furnaces

Abstract

The paper is devoted to searching for the optimum conditions of the optimum course of the gas combustion process in glass melting furnaces by the application of physical modelling. The description of the conditions of resemblance of the model and the furnace is followed by methods of evaluating of the experiments on models. Besides the practically tested hydrodynamic and geometric parameters of burner systems the recommended geometries of burners for basic types of glass melting furnaces and the results of their verification in operation are given.
