Dishwasher durability of enamels on glass

Abstract

Enameled drinking glasses and test plates were subjeeted to up to 1000 dishwashing eyeles. The samples were examined for loss of brilliance, colour changes and release of heavy metals. The optical measurements objectively reproduce the visual Impression. This can be used to prove quantitatively not only the differences between dishwasher durability of various enamels but also the influence of colour application and firing conditions. This methodology allows for quality control and product development.
