The transformation of the electrical energy system to include more renewable energy sources leads to high amounts of required grid expansion and changes the dynamic behavior of the electrical grids. To limit the necessary grid expansion and increase power system security, it is possible to improve the power systems efficiency by using assistant systems that solve complex operational tasks. This report is focused on assistant systems for distribution grids that consider the changing dynamic grid conditions in the future. Therefore, three applications are introduced to monitor, model and enable operational flexibilities for distribution system operators. While the results have shown that the consideration of distribution system dynamics are not an urgent requirement since stable operation can be maintained even with large changes in dynamic behavior, there are some operational benefits and use cases that can increase the power systems efficiency, security and reliability. The second part of the report is a discussion about autonomous grid operation to obtain and interpret the state of the art and necessity of higher degrees of automation. Also, it is examined how individual functionalities can reach a higher degree of automation in general. The main result of this discussion shows that the main driver for automation in distribution systems is the increasing complexity caused by the high number of energy consumers and providers that need to be coordinated. All in all, power system automation using assistant systems can play an important role of future distribution systems by overtaking complex tasks, decreasing the environmental impact and by increasing operational flexibilities and power system security Datei-Upload durch TIBeng
