Verbundvorhaben MOREALIS: Medizinische Detektion einer Flugunfähigkeit und Notruf-Intervention bei Piloten von UL-LL Flugzeugen

Abstract

Das Verbundvorhaben MOREALIS befasst sich mit der Konzeption, Entwicklung und Erprobung eines systemspezifischen Ansatzes zur Früherkennung medizinischer Notfälle bei Piloten von UL-LL-Flugzeugen während des Flugbetriebs. Durch permanente Überwachung und somit rechtzeitige Detektion einer Fluguntauglichkeit kann ein sicheres, automatisiertes Landen mithilfe des zu aktivierenden Autopiloten durchgeführt werden. Kern des Vorhabens ist somit die kontinuierliche Erfassung ausgewählter medizinischer und kognitiver Parameter, deren Auswertung mittels eines adaptierten Frühwarnsystems sowie die Einbindung dieser Informationen in ein Gesamtsystem zur Unterstützung von Entscheidungen bis hin zur automatisierten Einleitung von Interventionsmaßnahmen (z.B. Flugabbruch oder Notlandung). Zum Abschluss des Verbundvorhabens konnte ein Gesamtsystem entwickelt werden, welches die Parameter im Flug überwacht und ein Interventionsmanagement auslöst. So wird maßgeblich zur Flug- und Pilotensicherheit beigetragen. Das Gesamtsystem kann zukünftig auch in anderen Einsatzgebieten wie Automobilindurstrie und Leitständen Anwendung finden und ist ein wichtiger Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung zukünftiger Assistenz- und Sicherheitssysteme von Notfällen.

The collaborative project MOREALIS focuses on the conception, development, and testing of a system-specific approach for the early detection of medical emergencies in pilots of ultralight (UL) aircraft during flight operations. Continuous monitoring and thus timely detection of unfitness to fly enable a safe, automated landing using the activated autopilot. The core of the project is the continuous recording of selected medical and cognitive parameters, their evaluation using an adapted early warning system, and the integration of this information into a comprehensive system to support decision-making, culminating in the automated initiation of intervention measures (e.g., flight abort or emergency landing). The project culminated in the development of a complete system that monitors parameters during flight and triggers intervention management. This significantly contributes to flight and pilot safety. The system can also be applied in other fields, such as the automotive industry and control centers, and represents an important contribution to the further development of future assistance and safety systems for emergencies.
