MoInSe - Daten- und Modellbasiertes Informationsmanagement für die Systementwicklung

Abstract

Zum Projektbeginn wurde ein starkes Aufkommen von Large-Language-Models (LLMs) und eine Vielzahl von Graph-Datenbanken beobachtet. Ziel war die Entwicklung einer konzeptionellen und prototypischen Engineering-IT-Plattform, die heterogene Produkt- und IT-Modelle vernetzt, eine kontextbasierte und intuitive Suche ermöglicht, durchgängige Traceability von Entwicklungsartefakten liefert und datenbasierte Planungen für zukünftige Projekte unterstützt. Das Vorhaben wurde in sechs Arbeitspakete (AP) strukturiert und agil in Sprints durchgeführt. Das Ergebnis umfasst einen voll funktionalen, stark typisierten Knowledge Graph, einen Traceability-Service, welches Tracelinks sowohl beim Import als auch ereignisgesteuert erzeugt, sowie einen LLM-gestützten Chat-Backend-Prototyp für die Enterprise Search. Zusammengefasst lässt sich sagen, dass das stark typisierte Graph-Modell präzise Retrieval-Augmented-Generation (RAG) ermöglicht, die Traceability-Funktion über Systemgrenzen hinweg lückenlos funktioniert und die LLM-basierte Suche die semantische Präzision deutlich erhöht. Die modulare Architektur lässt sich zudem leicht auf weitere Branchen übertragen.

At the start of the project, there was a surge in large language models (LLMs) and a multitude of graph databases. The goal was to develop a conceptual and prototypical engineering IT platform that connects heterogeneous product and IT models, enables context-based and intuitive searches, provides end-to-end traceability of development artifacts, and supports data-based planning for future projects. The project was structured into six work packages (WP) and carried out in an agile manner in sprints. The result includes a fully functional, strongly typed knowledge graph, a traceability service that generates trace links both during import and on an event-driven basis, and an LLM-supported chat backend prototype for enterprise search. In summary, the strongly typed graph model enables precise retrieval augmented generation (RAG), the traceability function works seamlessly across system boundaries, and the LLM-based search significantly increases semantic precision. The modular architecture can also be easily transferred to other industries.
