On the basis of the analyses of 37 samples of pressed soda-lime glass from the years 1986 to 1990, manufactured in European countries, the average composition of the glass from single manufacturers as well as the total average composition has been determined. The results were compared with similar statistical data from the years 1970 to 1985. The result shows that the glass composition for ordinary pressed glass products has the orientation to be simpler, with less "additional oxides", and it is tending to become similar to that of container glass, with the only difference being in a lower iron and a higher alkali content. Nevertheless, the composition of the samples corresponds only vaguely with that of standard crystal glass.ger
